The valley below Ponce filled with the Children of Triglav

Almost 4,000 children and their companions from across Slovenia cheered for Timi Zajc and other winter sports heroes with Triglav Group

Thursday in Planica was once again made special by the Children of Triglav, who arrived in the valley below Ponce from 124 Slovenian primary schools, four schools with adapted programmes, three care and work centres, two secondary schools, and one sheltered workshop. Their excitement was contagious, with Timi Zajc confirming that the world’s best ski jumpers were met with enthusiastic cheers and unwavering support.

“Children are undoubtedly the sincerest fans. They cheer loudly for all the competitors in Planica – not just for Slovenians, but for all ski jumpers. Their energy is incredible, whether they’re welcoming jumpers with roars and applause, or eagerly waiting for photos and autographs. It’s fantastic to see the youngest generation following our sport, and I hope we inspire some of them to step into our shoes one day and take flight," said Timi Zajc, reflecting on the energy that young fans bring to Planica every year.

A day of healthy fun for almost 4,000 young fans

For nearly half a century, Slovenia’s largest insurance and financial group has been inspiring children and their companions to embrace a healthy, active lifestyle through the Children of Triglav at Planica initiative. “This year, we brought around 4,000 young fans and their accompanying adults from all over Slovenia to the valley below Ponce on approximately 70 buses. Here, they enjoyed thrilling flights, performances by the popular rapper Nipke and the band Vzrock, and the company of their peers. We hope to have created a day they will remember for a long time – one that encourages them to spend their free time in a healthy and active way,” said Tjaša Kolenc Filipčič, Director of Marketing at Zavarovalnica Triglav.

A special experience for the winner of the “Create a Planica 7 Trophy” competition

Among this year’s 4,000 Children of Triglav attendees, nearly 400 earned their spot through participation in the Create a Planica 7 Trophy competition. A particularly unique experience awaits ninth-grader Zala Ban, the artist behind the winning drawing. On the final day of competitions, she will have the honour of presenting a trophy based on her drawing, The Golden Flight, to the ski jumper who earns the highest total points across all seven official series in Planica, crowning them the Planica 7 champion.
